7.2.8. Coupling repair

In general the simple and thought-over design of coupling has a shortcoming for independent repair work: the conducted disk is inaccessible without preliminary dismantling operations. In particular, for this purpose it is necessary to disconnect a gear shifting box from the engine and to remove it the movement down. This operation demands knowledge and the special tool therefore replacement of details of coupling it is better to charge STOA.

PRACTICAL ADVICE
The movement with faulty coupling
.
If coupling refuses on the way, for example, does not join or is not switched off, then with observance of rules below it is possible to continue the movement and to reach to the near purpose or the next STOA. During the careful work as a pedal of an accelerator and the gear shifting box lever you will be able even to switch to the increased and lowered transfers.
Transfer switching off. For this purpose it is necessary to remove "gas" and to transfer the gear shifting box lever to neutral situation. If transfer jams, it is necessary to add "gas" a little.
Start. Before start warm up the engine that it could not decay at once. Switch off the engine and include the 1st transfer. Include a starter. Your car will start, but will move breakthroughs until the frequency of rotation of the engine is not made even to the frequency of rotation of a box of gear shifting. If you are not going to switch transfers to time of the movement, on the flat platform it is possible to start in the described way from the 2nd transfer.
Switching to the highest transfer. On the 1st transfer slightly press an accelerator pedal that turns of the engine were only slightly more idling (about 1000 min.-1). Then dump "gas" a little and transfer the gear shifting lever to neutral situation. (If transfer jams, add "gas" a little). Now release a pedal of an accelerator and accurately install the gear shifting lever in the provision of the 2nd transfer. With an equal frequency of turns of the engine and a box of gear shifting the 2nd transfer has to join almost independently.
If you passed the transfer switching moment, again add a little "gas" that it was possible to include transfer.
If nothing turned out, stop and try everything since the beginning.
Switching to the highest transfers is made only at small speeds: on the 2nd — approximately at 20 km/h, on the 3rd — at 30 km/h, on the 4th — at 40 km/h, on the 5th — at 50 km/h.
It is better to make switching to the lowest transfer at low turns of the engine and at small speeds.
1. At first dump "gas" a little and switch off transfer.
2. Slightly press an accelerator pedal to raise engine turns. At the same time transfer the gear shifting lever to the provision of the following lowest transfer. If the engine works at the necessary turns, transfer will join practically without effort.
