9.8. Parking brake system
By means of the parking brake system any movement of the car at a stop is prevented. The parking brake is operated through system of cables and affects back wheels. As disk brakes badly are suitable for performance of function of the parking brake, on back wheels drum brakes are in addition established. Back brake disks have such form that from their inside there is a place for drum brakes. Drum brakes are put in action only by the foot lever of the parking brake. When the driver presses a pedal of the parking brake, the forward brake cable stretches. It conducts to the automatic equalizer of driving cables. From the equalizer to each brake mechanism of back wheels the brake cable is laid. At a cable tension brake shoes are unclenched by the driving lever in the direction of walls of the brake drum — there is a braking of back wheels.
